I always seem to be searching for hidden gems north of the river but one of my favorites this summer had me just heading 20 minutes south. If you haven’t heard of Red Barn Farm of Northfield, write it down and get it on the calendar, stat.
It is a worthy destination.
Country roads and rolling farm fields take you to the most charming family farm featuring an epic red barn and famous wood-fired pizzas. People flood in from their cars with chairs, blankets and coolers in hand to claim their spot on the lawn. Remember you bring everything but the pizza! The live music drifting from the barn and the happy chatter from kids and grown-ups alike creates the happiest vibe – making Red Barn Farm the perfect place to enjoy a summer or fall evening.
With eight pizza standards plus a “pizza of the week,” Red Barn farm pumps out 300+ orders per night. And I love that no one seems to mind waiting for AT LEAST 30 minutes for pizza. I can tell you it is worth the wait! Plus it gives you time to catch up with friends or explore the grounds sprinkled with family farm perfection in the form of chickens, horses, gardens, sprawling mature trees – and even a General Store. They even recently planted grapes and hops with hopes of dabbling in beer and wine.
